Chapter 42

Alex also tried to say something, looking at Gu Weiyi’s face, then gave up, Swiss, like peace and neutrality, then hurried into his room.

They were the only ones left in the living room. Mo laughed quietly and felt embarrassed. She always thought impure. She had seen this person without clothes. This person had also seen her without clothes. It's really impossible to talk seriously. So human beings still needed to wear clothes, no matter how hot it was, just wear them.

Gu Weiyi picked up the remote control and pressed the TV and said, ‘Are you regretful?’

The endless question stunned Mo, and she looked at him silently.

Her silence seemed tacit to him, so the clever scientist had no choice but to ask, ‘What do you want?’

Mo wondered, what do you want? He had said he would take her out today? Then she said, ‘I want to go out.’

Chinese language had always dominated the world with its rich color and meaning. For example, rainy days, detaining days, god detains while I don’t.

So it seemed to Gu Weiyi that Situ Mo could not bear him and wanted to leave. ‘No,’ he said angrily.

Mo changed from wonder to depression. What's the matter now? Did he make a fuss when he had got her? She tried to quarrel with him, but she had to look into his eyes when quarrelling with him. What she couldn't do now was look into his eyes. As soon as she glanced at him, she would feel that they were so deep, so charming, so fantastic and so fascinating.

So Mo chose the cold war. Anyway, it's a good game for her.

Gu Weiyi really hated the cold war. Sometimes he really wanted to split Mo’s head to see if there was something wrong with that part of her brain and why didn't she talk.

It was Mo’s stomach that broke the deadlock.

In silence, Mo’s stomach muttered a few times. She caressed her stomach sadly and said, ‘Son, mother knows you're hungry, bear with it.’

This was Mo’s own humour and sorrow, however as soon as she spoke the words, a thunderbolt fell into their heads.

After looking at each other, Gu Weiyi tentatively asked, ‘I go to buy some medicine?’

Mo stared at him, ‘Of course you go to buy it, am I going to buy it?’

He asked carefully, ‘Which brand to buy?’

Mo grabbed the pillow from the sofa and smashed him, ‘How could I know!’

Gu Weiyi was foolishly smashed into a solid, he said while walking outside the door, ‘Well, then I'll buy it?’

Twenty minutes later, Gu Weiyi came back with a bag of food and a bag of medicine.

Mo went to turn over the bag of medicine. They were all in English. She grabbed a bottle and screwed it open to eat. Gu Weiyi grabbed it to see and said, ‘This is gastric medicine.’

She grabbed another pot of medicine and opened it, ‘Why did you buy gastric medicine?’

He grabbed it again and said, ‘Cold medicine.’

Mo understood, the man had bought every kind of medicine in the pharmacy.

So she spread out her hands and said, ‘Find out the medicine for me.’

He took out two small pills after a while. Mo saw a box of legendary condoms buried at the bottom of the bag. She grabbed them and stared at him, ‘What is this?’

Somebody bowed his head, blushed and looked pure, hanging his clothes in his hands and said, ‘I don’t know either.’

Mo’s stomach tumbled and she could not help but throw her pillow to him.

Gu Weiyi laughed away, handed over another bag and said, ‘Eat something before taking medicine.’

So they made up again.

Sometimes Gu Weiyi wondered how he could always make trouble with Situ Mo when he clearly had an old head on young shoulders.

Gu Weiyi took Mo to school in the morning and met many students who were interested in this mini Oriental girl. He took her around formally and left in a hurry. At noon, they went to a restaurant for lunch, and Situ Mo kept clamoring that she could not eat any more, so they went back to the dormitory after eating casually. When they were watching TV together, suddenly Situ Mo jumped up and rushed to the toilet. He was shocked and followed her. She retched with the toilet and turned pale.

Gu Weiyi asked, ‘What's wrong with you?’ The voice shook a little.

Mo waved her hands but could not speak.

After she had calmed down a little, he hugged her and rushed to the hospital. She leaned askew against him in the taxi, squinting and frowning, her face was blue and white. For the first time in his life, he regretted that he had not chosen a medical department.

When she entered the hospital, the nurse was shocked by two young people with pale faces. She thought it was drug use or food poisoning, and arranged the examination quickly. As a result, Situ Mo had only responded to the contraceptive. Finally, the doctor gave Situ Mo an antiemetic injection.

Back into the dormitory, Gu Weiyi put Situ Mo on the bed and wrapped her with the quilt layer by layer. She had no spirit at first, let him toss and turn. When she felt better, she struggled to roll out of the quilt hill, comforting him with wrinkled eyebrows and pale face, ‘I'm much better, don't worry about me.’

That evening, Gu Weiyi put his arm around Situ Mo, buried his head behind her neck and said sullenly, ‘Situ Mo, shall we get married?’

Mo realized that he was really frightened today. She patted him on the back and comforted him by saying, ‘Okay, do it tomorrow.’

His voice was still muffled and his lips were slightly sticking behind her ears, complaining, ‘You're perfunctory with me.’

She laughed, ‘You found it.’

He bit her ear angrily, and she laughed while hiding and begged for mercy, ‘It's itchy. I'm wrong.’

He slowly turned his bite into a kiss, inch by inch, but finally stopped and pressed himself on her for breath.

Mo did not understand his sudden stop but had no face to ask. She just pushed him who was against her and said, ‘You're heavy.’

He lifted himself up slightly with his elbow, but still sticked to her body, his eyes burning at her, his voice was hoarse and low, ‘I'm sorry, marry me.’

This endless apology, Mo was stunned for a moment, suddenly remembered a Korean opera called ‘Sorry, I Love You’, and then laughed low.

Gu Weiyi was a real man, but someone was a real maliciousness. He was so angry that he kissed warmly again until Situ Mo was out of breath and begged for mercy and said, ‘Okay, okay, I’ll marry you as long as you ask me to do.’

Later, Mo pillowed his arm and went to sleep, listening in a daze to what he was nagging and not letting her take contraceptives any more or anything.

The next day, Mo was tossed about by Gu Weiyi when she was asleep. She was so sleepy that she refused to open her eyes. He changed her clothes and made some breakfast for her, and then stuffed her who was half asleep into the car. She fell asleep in the car again.

When she was woken up again, they were in front of a church. Mo woke up in an instant and stared at Gu Weiyi and asked, ‘What are we doing here?’

Gu Weiyi said calmly, ‘Marry.’

Mo trembled and said, ‘I, I believe in Buddhism.’

He ignored her nonsense and dragged her inside.

Mo screamed, ‘I'm not going to get married! I want to wear wedding gown and marry beautifully! ‘

It was a matter of expediency, but Gu Weiyi stopped and made a phone call. Half an hour later Alex appeared in front of them and brought her several wedding gowns. She picked out one confusedly. Then she was dragged away by a sudden woman to make up. Then she mumbled to the priest, ‘Yes, I do.’

Alex, who was always smiling, took out a pair of rings and put them into each other's hands. He leaned in her ear and said, ‘Wife, I love you.’

Mo’s eyes were red, alas, so she married herself.

The morning light, the colorful auditorium, the smiling priest, the slightly out-of-tune Wedding March, the red-eyed bride, the smiling groom, the white veil of the bride dragged long on the ground, one corner of which was stepped on the groom's feet, the black dress of the groom was tailored to fit, but the leather shoes under his feet were obviously a yard large. ... Although it was not a perfect dream, it was like the soft focus lens in the film, dizzily open in the heart, shallow warmth.

In less than a morning, they had accomplished the great thing in life. Sometimes Mo’s mind would be short-circuited. After sitting in the car for a while, she moved her hand which was crossed by Gu Weiyi’s and said, ‘Are we really married? Is it legal?’

Gu Weiyi leaned over and kissed her on the forehead and said, ‘Yes, it's legal.’

Alex whistled as he drove.

Mo thought to herself: Forget it. And when it's over, she kissed him, and said, ‘I'm really crow-mouthed, casually said I’m your wife, I’ve really become your wife.’

He just laughed, didn't speak, and squeezed the hand they were holding.

Mo’s eyes burst into tears again. That's it. With this person, she's going through a lifetime of storms and rains.

In the afternoon, Mo followed Gu Weiyi to class. They hid in the last row of the classroom. Gu Weiyi took notes very attentively while Mo slept very attentively. He occasionally stopped to look at her sleeping with her mouth open. It's a pity that they hadn’t go to the same university, otherwise, he could live four years of pure university life with her like this.

After class, Gu Weiyi woke her up and led her back.

At noon, they went shopping for a while. Gu Weiyi bought her a lovely nightgown. He had tried to buy a silk nightgown, but Mo thought it was like wearing nothing. She despised his bad taste and chose a nightgown with Doraemon on it.

In the evening, when Gu Weiyi was writing a report, Mo hummed and turned over a magazine on her bed. It's a fashion magazine she forced Gu Weiyi to buy downstairs. Fashion magazine had a special feature that she could watch the pictures without reading the words.

Mo’s hand suddenly stopped, and a very serious question came to her mind: Uh, how should she tell her family when she return home? Saying that she went abroad and got married? Hmm, interesting.

So she closed the book and called, ‘Gu Weiyi.’

‘Yes?’

‘How should we talk to our family?’

‘Any way.’ The serious person's head was not raised, obviously perfunctory.

Mo felt unhappy, flew the magazine over and hit him on the back, ‘I want to divorce.’

Gu Weiyi still did not raise his head, ‘Never mind, we haven’t registered in China anyway.’

...

As Gu Weiyi wrote, he suddenly felt uncomfortable. It was so quiet that he looked back. Situ Mo sat on the edge of the bed with her hands over her face and her shoulders trembling.

He threw down his pen and ran to crouch in front of her, forcefully broke off her hand. He had thought that with her ghostly personality, she might be smiling with her face covered, but no, it was full of tears.

Then, after the ghost story incident, Gu Weiyi was once again surprised by Situ Mo's tears.
