Chapter 55

When Mo arrived at the station, it was more than nine o'clock. She slept a little dull in the car. She looked around the carriage and found that she was the only one to the terminal station. The driver said in a strong local voice, ‘Young girl, you are the only one, I won't go in. Would you like to get off here?’

Mo answered, picked up the phone, trying to ask Gu Weiyi to pick her up, only to find that the phone had turned off, perhaps had been carelessly pressed by her when she was sleeping.

Mo got out of the bus and, before entering the waiting room, she found Gu Weiyi sitting on the bench waiting for the bus, concentrating on pressing his phone through the glass door.

She hid behind the pillar and looked at him from afar.

The waiting room of the small station was very desolate at night. There were only Gu Weiyi and a watchman in the large waiting room. The excessively dim light made the light from Gu Weiyi’s phone screen shine on his face in a cool and quiet way. With his locked eyebrows and tight lips, seemed very lonely.

The sound of Mo’s phone's text message suddenly sounded, and it seemed particularly harsh and strange in this quiet and dying place.

Gu Weiyi heard the sound and raised his head abruptly.

Then Mo came out from behind the pillar and laughed embarrassedly, ‘How long have you been waiting?’

Gu Weiyi kept his face stiff and did not speak or move.

Mo went to him and squatted down, waved her hand in front of him and said with a grin, ‘Hey, is Gu Weiyi there?’

He did not respond.

Mo went to take his hand, shook it and said, ‘Come on, I'm hungry.’

He stared at her thoughtfully, making her blood froze.

Mo stood up awkwardly, took his hand and tried to pull him up. Suddenly, he pulled back and she sat on his lap in an odd position. He lowered his head and bit her lip viciously, as if to vent something.

Mo struggled with pain, He held her so as tightly as if to squeeze water out of her.

Mo could not move and let him kiss like a storm, he was so strong that she doubted whether she had any deep hatred with him.

When Gu Weiyi stopped, Mo had even forgotten the time. She clutched him around the neck in a foolish way, and she couldn't come back for a while.

Gu Weiyi pressed her head into his arms and said in a mute voice, ‘Don't show your face.’

Mo raised her head to see him strangely, and was quickly pushed back by him.

Mo was puzzled and protesting, ‘Are you suffocating me?’

Still, he kept her from moving by pressing her head and whispered in her ear, ‘Are you sure you want to look at the watchman behind me?’

Mo’s face heated up with a bang and the momentum was absolutely enough to fry eggs. She tried to drill her head into his arms, hoping to hide in a hole.

At last Mo was carried out of the waiting room like a pillar by Gu Weiyi, and her face was buried deep in his neck.

Near the door of Mo’s home, he let her go, but he held her hand very tight.

Mo hadn't seen Gu Weiyi so emotionally intense that she dared not say a word and let him grip his hand painfully.

When she returned home, her mother did not have much enthusiasm for her arrival. She just kept blaming, said that Mo was so unsensible, how could she have shut down her phone, making Weiyi so worried. She also said that on such a cold day, she had kept Weiyi waiting outside for more than an hour. In a word, Gu Weiyi was the son of Mom, who had been lost for many years. Mo was picked up by the garbage dump.

When Gu Weiyi returned to her house, he became normal. Mo’s mother gave both of them a bowl of soup. Mo’s soup was corn rib soup. Gu Weiyi’s soup was ginger soup. After drinking, Gu Weiyi went to the kitchen to wash dishes spontaneously.

Mo sat at the table and listened to her mother's chatter. Her mother said that when he graduated, you should get married.

Mo was so guilty that she dared not say a word, but just kept laughing.

Mo’s mother said that she could see that Weiyi was really good to her. Don't frighten him away with her bad temper. She wouln’t be able to meet a better one.

Mo diverged from the topic, ‘Where's Dad?’

Mo’s mother said, ‘Your father went on a business trip in the afternoon, and it was Weiyi who saw him off. Later, your father called me and told me that this young man was really good. Before getting on the bus, he ran out and bought him water and food to eat in the car.’

Mo looked at her mother, who had become a fan of Gu Weiyi, and nodded blankly, ‘Yes, I'll marry him as soon as he graduates.’

Mo’s mother patted her thigh hard and said, ‘You dead child, your mother is serous. When he found that you couldn't get through, he couldn’t sit or stand, making me like a ruthless mother.’

‘Mom, You still had the good mood to watch TV when I’m lost?’

Mo’s mother laughed and stood up, ‘Weiyi, when you finish washing the dishes, remember to dry them. I’m tired, and going to rest first. Don't go to bed too late.’

Gu Weiyi responded in the kitchen, ‘Okay, good night, aunt.’

Mo shook her head and looked at her mother's fleeing figure. She stood up and said to the direction of the kitchen, ‘I'm going to take a bath. You just go to bed after washing the dishes.’

When Mo went out of the bathroom, Gu Weiyi was nowhere to be seen, and her brother's room door was closed (Mo’s brother was working in the field). Mo thought that he was probably tired, but she still complained in her heart that she had waited for him to go home until two or three o'clock, and even cooked noodles for him, but he did not know that little help should bring much return.

She lay in bed and was about to shut down the phone to sleep, when she found that there were more than a dozen of text messages on her phone sent by him. At first, five or six of them threatened her to turn on the phone quickly, then five or six were coaxing her, and the last two or three answered her threatening text message seriously.

He said, Situ Mo, before I met you, I could only imagine the satisfaction of one more person in my life who could not be cut off, just as children in the South could only imagine what snow would look like. Without you, it's like you can't tell your child that what you see is not snow, but salt. You are snow to me. Without you, the snow in the world is only salt in my eyes.

Mo worshipped his bad metaphor, and knew that he was really frightened by her today. Otherwise, he who hated texting would not crash so many lines. It would be hard for him to come up with such a pitted metaphor.

Mo sent a text message to him: Husband, I'm sorry, but your metaphor was so bad that you couldn’t forget your mother tongue even if you go abroad. Well, in order to match your Chinese level, you are also the snow in my heart, and the others are the salty salt.

After texting, Mo fell asleep, feeling her neck rubbed by something warm and soft. She sided her head, barely opened her eyes, and muttered, ‘What are you doing?’

Gu Weiyi did not speak, his lips was sliding slowly behind her neck and ears.

Mo’s sweat stood on end by him, and she didn't even know when was her pajamas falled to her waist.

He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, and his lips swept lightly or heavily over her bare back.

Just as Mo felt she could turn into a pool of water, a continuous cough came from the next room, which scared them both into a shock and almost rolled off the bed.

The cough lasted for a long time. Gu Weiyi and Mo dared not gasp for a minute. After a long while, when the cough stopped, Mo pinched his hand which was holding her tightly with her nails. At first, he frowned silently. Later, he was pinched too painfully. So he took a bite to her ear. Mo’s hand trembled and she let go of him.

Gu Weiyi began to be brash and clumsy again. Mo pushed him and whispered, ‘Are you crazy. Get out to your room.’

Suddenly Gu Weiyi turned up and pressed her, licked her lips and then buried his head in her neck, closing his eyes to sleep.

Mo was so anxious but she did not dare to struggle excessively. She was afraid of making any noise so she had to whisper to him, ‘Gu Weiyi, get up. Husband, get up...’

Mo asked for a while but Gu Weiyi did not respond. She thought he had fallen asleep, gently pushed him away, trying to sneak away to sleep with her mother, and told her that she felt like to talk to her.

Before she had pushed him far away, Gu Weiyi pressed her down with a sudden force and frothed her mouth.

Having pushed, been pressed and tossed several times, the breathing difficulties and heavy sleepiness made Mo unconscious. In the morning, Mo was awoken by a nightmare. She dreamed that her mother was angry when she found that she was sleeping with Gu Weiyi. She asked a group of people to put them in a pig cage and throw them into the river.

She reflexively touched the other side of the bed, which was empty, so she got up and went out of the room.

Gu Weiyi was in the kitchen trim vegetables with her mother, and they talked happily together.

Mo coughed softly.

At the same time, Gu Weiyi and her mother looked back and continued to trim vegetables.

Oh, it's cold.

Disappointed, Mo moved to the bathroom to wash herself. Suddenly she remembered: Did Gu Weiyi sneak into her room last night? Or did she have a mysterious empty dream?
