Chapter 62

The New Year was approaching, and Fu Pei's company was slowly the right path. Because of limited manpower, Mo and Chen Xiaoxi were often busy dark all round. Christmas, New Year's Day, Spring Festival, Valentine's Day... Several successive festivals had turned the mini gift packaging design company upside down. Mo had picked her old business to write a copy for gift packaging. So she was both an accountant and a copywriter. The capitalist was really cruel, even if the capitalist was a friend of her, the boss's shameless degree was always above the limited imagination of employees.

What Mo wrote were a few short words, such as: May the morning sunshine hit your face; May you smell the fragrance of the wind blowing; May you get through the phone you want to call; May you not miss the bus; Have you found it? Your hair is a little longer today; On the day you receive the gift, the air must be fresher than usual...

Strangely enough, her endless wishes, coupled with Chen Xiaoxi's warm color packaging, were widely praised by customers. There were orders one after another, Fu Pei grinned from ear to ear. However, Mo and Chen Xiaoxi were very pitiful, they were so busy that even the crow's tail lines were coming out.

Another night of overtime work, Mo and Chen Xiaoxi were on the table, foaming at the mouth. Fu Pei bought a night snack and came in, smiling carefully, ‘Two dear beauties, your younger one have brought you food. If you have any other requirements, just tell me, I’ll give my all till my heart ceases to beat.’

Mo and Chen Xiaoxi were too lazy to raise their eyes and died on the table without moving.

Fu Pei laid down the food and asked pleasantly, ‘Mo, what do you want to eat?’

‘I’d like to go home.’

Fu Pei pretended to be deaf, turned to Chen Xiaoxi and asked, ‘Xiaoxi, what do you want to eat?’

‘I’d like to go home, too. I've been working overtime for a week, and I'm going to have a sudden death.’

Fu Pei smiled and soothed, ‘Well, after this month's busy schedule, I’ll give you an extra week's spring vacation ahead of schedule.’

Only then did the two people refund their spirit, and struggled to get up and work at night.

Mo was floating out of the company, Gu Weiyi caught her floating body, frowning, ‘It’s over one o’clock.’

Mo lay on his shoulder and said, ‘I’m too tired to swear at my boss. Carry me home...’

Gu Weiyi squatted down with a sigh, lifted her on his back, and said to himself, ‘Damn, you're thin.’

Mo said weakly, ‘Scientist, I heard you swear.’

‘You lie down, close your eyes and sleep.’ Gu Weiyi said sulkily.

‘Okay...’ Mo closed her eyes obediently. He walked bumpily and Mo felt like she was in a cradle, so she fell asleep quickly.

Fu Pei closed shutters, sighed, turned and was frightened by Chen Xiaoxi, who looked sad. He clapped his chest and said, ‘Chen Xiaoxi, you tried to frighten me to death?’

Chen Xiaoxi's face was expressionless and her voice was slow, ‘It was you who peeped at the warm reception of others and watched it too well before you found me.’

Fu Pei was furious, ‘Why didn’t you go home?’

Chen Xiaoxi continued to be expressionless, and her voice continued to be slow, ‘I'm a woman anyway. It's so late, and you have a car. Can't you give me a ride?’

‘How did you get back from working overtime?’

Chen Xiaoxi was still expressionless, and his voice was still slow, ‘Taxi.’

‘Then you can call a taxi again.’

Chen Xiaoxi was still expressionless and spoke slowly, ‘It's expensive. Are you going to reimburse me?’

Fu Pei grabbed the key on the table and said, ‘I see. I'll take you back.’

Chen Xiaoxi was still expressionless, and his speech was still slow, ‘Thank you.’

Fu Pei looked at her earnestly, ‘Chen Xiaoxi, can you stop looking like an old corpse in a mountain village?’

Chen Xiaoxi, expressionless and speaking slower, ‘I have no choice but a bad boss, I am too tired to have expressions.’

Fu Pei said as if he had swallowed a fly, ‘I'm wrong.’

After the busy season, Mo and Chen Xiaoxi took a happy vacation.

Mo stayed at home for a day, and on that day Gu Weiyi served her like an old Buddha, and then at dinner he told her lightly, ‘I told my mother that we would go home the day after tomorrow.’

‘U, u, us?’ Mo was so excited that she stuttered.

Gu Weiyi looked at her strangely, ‘Why are you so surprised as if you haven't seen my parents?’

She was so anxious that she said, ‘No, no, it’s different...’

Gu Weiyi was upset by her words and pulled her to say, ‘What are you nervous about?’

Mo felt like weeping but had no tears, ‘I don't know what I'm nervous about...’

Gu Weiyi shrugged his shoulders, ‘Anyway, even if you're nervous, you'll have to go. I've already made an appointment with them.’

So one day later, Mo was taken to the plane by Gu Weiyi, and she felt like going around in cold. Gu Weiyi gloated beside her, ‘I’ve said that it's cold in my hometown. I’ve asked you to wear more clothes but you just didn’t listen.’

Mo looked adorable in a beige dress, black stockings and brown boots. Although Gu Weiyi said that she was ‘desperately trying to catch the tail of youth’, she still believed that such a dress would leave a good impression on his parents, especially his father, the serious half-old man. She would show him that youth was invincible.

Mo didn't realize that she almost froze herself before she saw Gu Weiyi’s parents. She grew up in the South and could not imagine that the cold, which burst out of the bones and spread to her limbs. She felt as if she was a quick frozen person.

Gu Weiyi was laughing at her at first, and then he saw she was so cold that she reacted slowly. Then he put her in his arms and wrapped her in his coat, ‘Is that exaggerated? It's not cold to get on the bus. My mother said that the driver would pick us up.’

Mo tried to ask why hadn't the driver come yet, but as soon as she tried to open her mouth, her mouth began to shook so much that she buried her face in Gu Weiyi’s chest to absorb the temperature and tightened his waist with her hands.

Gu Weiyi laughed so loudly that his chest was shaking and his voice was buzzing in Mo’s ears. He said, ‘Situ Mo, only cold air could fix you.’

When they arrived at Gu Weiyi’s home, Mo had been full of the idea that his parents would have been waiting at home for a long time, but she did not think of that only one nanny, Aunt Zhou, was waiting for them at home and warmly greeted them for dinner and soup.

Mo sipped the ginger soup made by Aunt Zhou while looking at Gu Weiyi’s home. It was very big and brilliant. It was a duplex building with few people inside.

After Mo finished her soup, she finally straightened her tongue and said, ‘Your home is so lonely.’
